     RUG PATCHING SERVICES

Rugs which sustain burns, liquid stains or other blemishes don’t have to be replaced. This is because Rug Resources has developed a technique called rug patching which can be used to repair and completely remove the blemish.

    ABOUT OUR RUG PATCHING SERVICES

Our team uses a specially made kit that includes adhesive disks and a rug cutter. The cutter will be used to slice away the section which has been damaged as well as a replacement patch which is identical in size. In case you don’t possess leftover scraps, we can harvest the patch from a location such as a closet rear, or from beneath your radiator or furniture that is never moved.

BENEFITS OF PROFESSIONAL RUG PATCHING SERVICES

The main benefit of professional rug patching is its speed and efficiency. It encompasses 6 steps, which are making the imprint, readying the tools, cutting away, sticking the disk, installing the patch and then blending the fibers:

    MAKING THE IMPRINT

Our contractor will run his hand along the damaged rug section, noting the direction that makes its rug fibers stand. Then they will position the cutter blade-free on top of the damaged section, then make 3 clockwise turns so the rug ring fibers can be pushed aside, revealing the backing.

    READYING THE TOOLS

They will next attach cutter blades which will enable them to slice their way through the rug backing whenever their cutter is rotated clockwise. A pivot screw will also be connected that should project the same distance as the blades themselves.

    CUTTING AWAY

Now the cutter must be lined using a circular impression as described in the first step. The contractor will push downward until his pivot screw penetrates the backing, at which point a pop should be heard. The cutter must then be rotated 2 or 3 times using pressure which is firm yet even. Next, extract the piece which has been damaged and then utilize the same technique for cutting away your replacement patch.

    STICKING THE DISK

An adhesive disk comes with a protective backing that must be removed, after which it will be dampened using cool water so its glue is temporarily neutralized. This disk will be a bit smaller than a patch, so the disk slit must be opened so its edge can slide beneath the rug between padding and backing. Once our adhesive turns tacky, which should take three to five minutes, the contractor will press it down into the carpet near the edge of the disk.

    INSTALLING THE PATCH

Any loosened rug fibers which are present near the hole’s edge should be plucked out. We’ll put a small bead of rug seam glue near the cutout perimeter. It takes approximately fifteen minutes to get the proper adjustments as the glue will set.

    BLENDING THE FIBERS

Last, our team will use a star roller on the patch, pressing firmly down from multiple angles until its seam disappears completely. The adhesive will need to cure for approximately 24 hours before walking on or vacuuming it.

WHY CHOOSE RUG RESOURCES’ RUG PATCHING SERVICES?

As you can see, there is a lot of work that goes into patching a rug yourself, and it is easy to make mistakes. Hiring a professional is beneficial since they will avoid errors such as making excessive turns which results in cutting into the patch supporting padding. Rug Resources has years of experience patching rugs of all kinds.
